To whom this may concern, I am a 33 year old SSgt in the USAF. I wrote this poem while I was in Airmen Leadership School many years ago. I know that soon I will have to give everything to my country to right the wrongs that have befallen her. I would just like to give a little of myself to the people right now.
Michael E.C. Thalleen (SSgt USAF)

A single word is whispered, on the lips of the wind... Freedom
To better understand it we must look where we have been
From the blood spilled at Yorktown to the sands of Desert Storm
Freedom was the inspiration to protect our very own

Hear the battle cries of the ghosts fallen in its name... Freedom
See it in the city lights or on the open plains
From the deepest depths of our lakes from sea to shining sea
Freedom is our country's gift given to you and me

So now as you look up into the sky, know what it is to be free
Hold her gift up on high for all the others to see
Let all know that freedom rings here in our country today
And it would take the death of us all to ever take it away... Freedom
