The best Salsa in Okinawa

Date Posted: 2001-09-15

Your article about Viva! Latin connection is a "smashed hit!" I really enjoyed reading about all my Latino and non-Latino friends on-base and off-base that cultivates the Hispanic culture. A big applause for your team and crew.

However, I am very disappointed to the fact that the "hottest" and most frequented place by Military and locals in the entire Island as far as "Salsa, Merengue & Bachata" music clubs are concerned was completely left out of the picture. I am a little bit disturbed to the fact that most of the people (my friends) you interviewed apparently did not gave the reporters a clue of our existence. I am more disturbed to the fact that we (as Salsa Dance Instructors and the BEST Latino DJ in Okinawa) get advertised in your newspaper every week and apparently nobody came up with the idea if at least contacting us.

I am talking about the Globe and Anchor Club in Camp Foster. We have a "big" group of people that we teach salsa every Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. and also on the third Saturday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. In

addition, Kachimba 1551 comes to the Globe and Anchor the third Saturday of the month and plays from 9 to 12 p.m. Moreover, we have the "hottest" salsa contest in the Island every third Saturday night right after
Kachimba.

But anyway, credit to those who deserve the great credit! I am happy about all of my Latino brothers that made it on this stupendous issue of your newspaper you have put together. I hope that your outstanding team of reporters come one day to the Globe and Anchor and see us in action with at least over 400+ Latino brothers and "all" of my friends you have interviewed (yes, they themselves frequent this place all the time).
Best of my Regards and once again, OUTSTANDING JOB!
