Okinawa guidebook published in Taiwan

Date Posted: 2001-09-15

The Okinawa Convention Bureau together with Kindai Bijutsu, a local printing and publishing company, and Nihon-Asia Airlines has completed a Chinese language guidebook on Okinawa aimed at tourists from Taiwan. The book went on sale from Sep. 10 at book and convenience stores in Taiwan. 25,000 copies of the first edition was printed.

The guidebook titled "Here Plus Okinawa" is sold as a part of an informative magazine series for young people that a Taiwanese company is publishing. According to statistics presented by the Convention Bureau, the number of tourists from Taiwan was 158,000 in 1999 that consists of 90 percent of all foreign tourists to Okinawa. "The guide book will hopefully help stabilize and expand our market in Taiwan," a spokesman for the bureau says.
