Creditors Meet, Try To Recover Unpaid 8 Million

Date Posted: 2000-12-29

A Russian space exhibition that was on display in Nago and Naha City last year is turning into a major headache for companies that provided services to the promoter. The exhibition was not the success the organizers had hoped for, and consequently most of the bills that the organizers owe to companies and municipalities that serviced the exhibition have gone unpaid.

The uncollected bills total about 8 million, half of which is owed to Nago City. In order to concentrate their efforts to collect the bills, Nago City office organized a meeting of the creditors. Representatives of nine companies who say that they have never received payments from the exhibition organizers, showed up. Most of them said that they thought that Nago City was the sponsor of the exhibition and thus the payments were guaranteed. Now the same companies are looking to Nago City to lead efforts to collect their unpaid bills.
