Ishikawa City Assembly conducts smelly businessDate Posted: 2000-12-22 The sty with its foul odor has been a thorn in residents’ noses for some time. Many assembly members also say that it gives the city bad image and drives away visitors. However, the opposition in the assembly demanded that the city first conduct a thorough survey among the residents in order to ascertain that the city taxpayers are willing to shoulder such a large expenditure. The opposition also demanded that the new location must be a place where the same problem will never arise again. They also demanded guarantees that the current location can be cleaned and the smell eliminated. In the end the assembly voted to reserve the money in the budget to assure that the sty be moved away as soon as possible. Perhaps in the near future, drivers going through Ishikawa City can do so with their windows open. |
