Date Posted: 2001-08-30

Okinawa Labor Standards Office sent a police report on a 52-year-old owner of restaurant chain Yakiniku Kagawa to the Naha District Prosecutors’ Office, Thursday. The owner is charged with violating the Labor Standards Law.

According to the police investigation, the chain operated three restaurants in Chatan, Naha and Urasoe until July this year. However, the restaurants were reportedly burdened with excessive debts, and in order to stay in business, the owner allegedly failed to pay his 81 employees’ wages. The unpaid wages total about ¥19 million.
