Date Posted: 2002-03-14

Kadena Air Force Baseís radar system, operated by the U.S. military and controlling flights over Okinawa, was out of order on the morning on March 9. Passenger flights to and from Okinawa were delayed for several hours due to the shutdown. The air control system was repaired about six hours after the breakdown first occurred.
