Okinawa to apply brakes to motorcycle gang fans

Date Posted: 2002-03-14

Okinawa City on March 8 established a council to lay the groundwork for enacting an ordinance to control people congregating on the streets to cheer on speeding motorcycle gangs. University of the Ryukyus professor Hiroshi Nakaji was chosen as chairman of the council, which is aiming at implementation of the regulation in April 2003. They have been inciting the gangs and quarreling with police, resulting in violence in the past.
