About three thousand Okinawa Prefecture Office workers took part in a fire drill organized by Naha City Fire Station last Wednesday. In the exercise an imaginary fire started in the kitchen on the office’s fifth floor, the alarm was sounded and the workers evacuated the building. Two workers “left behind” were rescued from the seventh floor using a fire engine ladder.
The drill took place in anticipation of easily started fires, now that the change of season has brought drier air to Okinawa.
