Local Villages Clean Up At Tokyo Festival

Okinawan villages are earning millions of yen selling their products at a Tokyo festival. The 14th Japanese Villages Festival began last Friday in Ikebukuro, Tokyo with Okinawan villages such as Tomigusuku taking part.

Some products popular with the city dwellers included Turmeric and mineral water, following recent trends of a greater interest in health food. The Okinawan products did well in comparison to other villages in mainland Japan. The local villages earned ¥2.5 million in three days.
