Larger hotels, resort fare better than small ones

The Okinawa Prefectural Tourism and Resort Bureau has conducted a survey on accommodation facilities in Okinawa, in regards of their occupancy during last year. The results show that the larger hotels and resorts were fuller throughout the year than the small establishments.

The survey concluded that the average occupancy rate as of last year was 62 percent, which was 0.7 percent up from the previous year. The month of August ranked on the top with 82.4 percent, even though that was 6.5 percent down from the previous year influenced by the last year’s typhoons. The least occupied month was May with 49.8 percent.

According to the size, large facilities that are capable of holding three hundred people or more recorded 64.1 percent average over the year. Smaller facilities’ occupancy rate stayed at rather low fifty percent.
