Boys Stole 2m From Vending Machines

Date Posted: 2000-11-10

Twelve boys have been arrested by Kadena Police Department for stealing 2 million from 150 vending machines between June and October. They stole from machines in the south Okinawan areas like Kadena and Naha City. Using a screwdriver, they broke the key holes of vending machines, while some of them acted as lookouts.

At the end of September a policeman found two of the boys holding a screwdriver and 40000 worth of change. The rest of the boys were arrested on October 29th. They spent the money they stole on games and food. Four high school students were also arrested for stealing 10,000 from a vending machine last week by Miyako Police. They had broken into the vending machine with a hammer.
