Hidachi Beach on Iriomote Island was officially opened to the public on March 3, the earliest opening this year in Okinawa. Despite cloudy weather children jumped into the water and enjoyed the first official day of swimming. Priests and officials from the island gathered on the beach and prayed for a safe year.
