Mango season at peak

Date Posted: 2001-07-28

Mango harvest in Okinawa reached its peak on Saturday. Twenty tons of mangos were brought in to the Central Market in Urasoe City, the highest quantity on record this year.

Market officials estimate that approximately a hundred tons will be brought in within ten days through the end of July. That represents one forth of the total volume the market deals in a year.

One retailer in Okinawa City bought two hundred boxes containing two kilograms of mangos each, and then sold all of them in less than one hour.
