Date Posted: 2001-07-21

Yaeyama High School in Ishigaki is hosting a group of ten high school students from their exchange school, South Eugene High School in Oregon.

The American students are experiencing various cultural and nature-related activities including pottery and diving. Their schedule also included a tea ceremony that was prepared by students at local Tea Clubs who made green tea and served it with sweets. In addition to the Japanese green tea, Okinawan “Buku-buku tea” was also served.

The visitors are scheduled to leave on July 18, and in exchange, Yaeyama students will visit Oregon next year.
