Okinawa’s newest airline sees rosy future

The president of Lequios Airline, Kimio Chinen revealed the new company’s business plan, Friday, at a presentation meeting organized by NASDAC Japan Club.

According to Chinen, the airline aims to start flights between Naha and Tokyo by next May as a new competitor to the conventional carriers such as JAL, ANA, and others He added that the company aims to list its shares in NASDAC Japan within six months after the route is established. NASDAC Japan is a new stock exchange specializing in venture business companies.

Chinen also assured listeners that his airline would be profitable. He said the company can cut costs by as much as ¥2 billion per year because of special incentives offered by Okinawa Prefecture including special landing fees and reduced fuel tax.

Besides, by entrusting the aircraft maintenance to a firm in Taiwan, he claimed it is possible to save another ¥1 billion. He also pointed out that Okinawa enjoys a geographically superior location in the center of South-East Asia.
