Date Posted: 2001-07-21

One of the brightest pop stars in the nation, Namie Amuro who originally hails from Okinawa, received a letter of appreciation, Monday, from both the Prefectural Police Department and the Prefecture, for her cooperation in posing for a driving safety campaign poster, and a youth education campaign free of charge.

She first visited the Prefectural Police Department where she received the letter from Chief of the Department Hiroyuki Ota who happily told her that her image would be a great influence to young people in Okinawa targeted by the traffic campaign.

Later, Amuro visited the Prefectural Office to meet with Governor Keiichi Inamine. The governor told her that she is a star representing Okinawa, and that he wished her further success in her career. Amuro told Inamine that she would like to do whatever she can and is necessary for Okinawa.
