Date Posted: 2001-07-13

A recruiting information company, Kyujin Okinawa Co., conducted a survey of about three thousand students concerning their hopes for their future careers, at a job fair, May 25.

The results of the survey that the company recently made public concluded that San-A Corporation, Okinawa’s largest retailer ranked as the most popular company for the first time ever since annual the survey started a dozen years ago. The most popular firm of the last consecutive eleven years, Okinawa Electric Company, has been replaced by San-A.

The survey also showed that most students consider the contents of the work to be more important than the financial remuneration, welfare benefits and the size of the company, when they choose their jobs.

Compared to the rest of the country, 73 percent of college students in mainland Japan said that they have decided which company they want to work for by May. In Okinawa only 53 percent of graduating students have made up their mind.
