Junk dealer arrested for illegally dumping old cars

Okinawa City police on Feb. 27 arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of violating the Waste Disposal Law. The man was being questioned about disposing of scrapped cars without permission at a place popularly known as Miyagi Zero District in Chatan Town, The suspect, who operates a junkyard in Sunabe, reportedly admitted to the charges. According to the police investigation, the suspect was allegedly contracted by a used car dealer to junk four cars and brought them into the area without permission from the prefecture.
