Year’s first rice harvested in Kin

Date Posted: 2001-07-07

The year’s first rice harvest started at the end of June in Kin Town, where rows of rice were cut one after another by harvester machines. As soon as the rice was harvested and tied, the bundles were hung on guardrails on the roadside.

A local 72-year old farmer said that this year, because it rained too much, the ears did not have much rice. Although he was smiling for the first harvest of the year, he said that he does not expect his crop to be even enough for his own family’s annual needs. He said he will do the harvesting with the help of all of his family during the next few weekends.
