18 teams took part in annual Sabani race

The 2nd Annual Sabani Race was held on Sunday on a 46-kilometer course starting from Zamami Island and ending in Naha. The race is open to traditional wooden Okinawan “sabani-type” boats. The four-person teams can paddle and use the help of a sail, but no engines are allowed.

18 teams took part in the race. The team “Agesamiyo” from Zamami Village won the race finishing in 4 hours and 23 minutes. The last year’s winner, “Okisui,” crossed the finishing line second.
