Gospel workshop attracts amateur singersDate Posted: 2001-06-29 In Okinawa, prior to the concert “Golden Gate Gospel Train 2001,” eighty participants will be given gospel-singing lessons for four days by gospel singer Nathan Best, who is a member of a well-known group, “Fairfield Four” as well as a pastor of a church. On the fifth day, all participants will perform in harmony at a concert under his direction. Concerts with this kind of precluding workshops have been held several times in Osaka and Sapporo, and all were deemed a great success. There may be some doubts that it would not be possible to reach harmony in four days. But surprisingly, the short time of practice seems to be an important factor to make participants concentrate toward achieving the desired results. Four songs from this concert will be recorded for Best’s upcoming album. Apart from the gospel, Okinawan bands, “Taiyo-Fu Orchestra” and “Parsha Club” are slated to perform as well. This concert promises to be a great one, a mix of gospel music and original culture of Okinawa.
