The Under 30 Club - Girls Night Out!

The Under 30 Club focuses on activities of interest for women between the ages of 18 and 30 but the group is not limited to those under 30. “Don’t let the name fool you; the club is open to ladies of all ages. The club does focus on activities that are of interest to 20-30 year olds, though. So if you’re a kid at heart, feel free to join in the fun, no matter what your age is,” says Megan Griego, President of the Under 30 Club,

The under 30 Club is for all types of ladies. “We welcome all ladies, from those who are single and living in the dorms to ladies who are married with or without children,” says Griego. “Even ladies who are not military affiliated, such as local nationals can join. It doesn’t matter if you are affiliated with the Marines, Air Force, Army, Navy, or Coast Guard; everyone is welcome. But, this is a ladies only club. Sorry guys!”

The club meets about twice a month at Megan’s apartment and then carpools to the planned event location. Most of the events are on Kadena Air Base or nearby, but if you are stationed away from Kadena someone will usually volunteer to pick you up. Most events are fairly inexpensive, ranging from $10 to $15; however, “it really depends on what extras you buy like beer or popcorn,” Griego adds. “All the activities we plan are husband, boyfriend, and children-free. This gives us a chance to get away from the responsibilities of daily life and just have some fun.”

The 30+ Club

The 30+ Club is a club that was recently founded to give the over-thirty crowd a place to socialize and have a good time. Founded by Mark Morehouse , this club was created to give its members a chance to get away from life and participate in activities more geared for this age group. This group will have its opening party, a Sunset Potluck, on June 23 at 4:30pm at the Maeda Misaki Diver’s House. If you are interested in coming to this event, please bring one dish and drinks. The Maeda Misaki Diver’s House overlooks the ocean, and there is a covered area to hang out under in case it rains.

Driving directions to this event are fairly simple. Take Highway 58 north from Kadena tonna son, turn left at the light where the Rennaisance Hotel is located and loop around and head in the opposite direction with the ocean on your right. You will then see the Malibu Hotel on your right. Continue up the hill and go through the traffic light. You will see a blue building (Yuntaku) on your left and there will be a small road with a sign for “Diver’s House” on your right. Take this road all the way to the top and you will se a white building. Park your car and walk around the back.

If you would like more information on the 30+ Club, please email Maku.
