Gangsters arrested for selling stolen cars

Date Posted: 2001-06-22

Okinawa Prefectural Police Department and Miyako Police arrested seven suspects including three gang members, Friday, on suspicion of selling high-class cars in Miyako Island that were stolen from Okinawa.

The police seized stolen nine cars worth over 26 million. They were all same style and currently used new number plates that the theft ring members had installed. They had also provided each car with forged JCI certificates, and changed their production serial numbers in order to hide the fact that the cars were stolen. The Police have confirmed that the ring brought a total of 28 cars to Miyako. They are continuing the investigating in order to locate the rest.
