Okinawa King of Fights was evening of intense combat

Date Posted: 2002-03-08

On Saturday night the Rocker NCO Club along with Limitless Entertainment provided an intense night of kickboxing, professional wrestling and ultimate fighting at their Ultimate Fight Night. Hours before the first bout took place, hundreds of people crowded the club’s entrance to fall into line and save the best seats. Finally, at 8:15 p.m., after a huge number of people finally claimed their seats around the ring, the first fight kicked off. Match after match, the audience cheered and howled for their favorite fighters. Fists were thrown, black eyes were given and shins were kicked, and the audience seemed pleased with the intensity of the fights.

Later on in the evening, WWF Intercontinental Champion and UFC Champion Ken Shamrock, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” got in the center of the ring to give a few demonstrations of his powerful moves. After finishing, he gave a roll call to see which branch of the military was represented most in the crowd according to their cheering. Overall, the Marines were the loudest, but the Air Force came close. As the final fight, Wade Shipp from Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den went head-to-head against Chris Lauer from Misawa in the Okinawa Super Fight Championship. After 7 minutes, Shipp was announced the victor.

With an extraordinary crowd turnout and the intense bouts between many talented fighters, overall, the night was a success. The lighting and sound presentation were perfect for setting the mood of the event, and the fighters all fought very hard.
