Summer kicks off with a bang at Torii Station Friday, at 5 p.m. The ribbon cutting at this time will officially start the festivities taking place at Torii Beach for the weekend. Saturday’s events and entertainment will begin at noon and continue until 11:30 p.m., the same as the final day Sunday.

Torii Beach is known to be one of the finest beaches on the Island. Food, fun and entertainment will be the order of the day. Countless number of food booths will be available to test the palates of all, desiring a different ethnic cuisine. From hot dogs and hamburger’s, Okinawan Soba, to Filipino Lumpia, it will all be there. As the event special, the Coral Cove Club will offer a T-Bone Steak Dinner at a price that can’t be beat.

Entertainment will be available for every hour during the Festival, provided by many of best known bands and groups in Okinawa, including Dave Ralston jamming up blues and jazz; Kelly Wright and The Blue Diamond Band, Y2K Rock, Ballet Folklorica Mexicano De Okinawa, Filipino Cultural Group, Taiko Drummers, Eisa Group, Oshiro Karate Organization and Fireworks on Saturday night.

This year features one of Okinawa’s finest dance and concert groups. The famed B.B. Waves will perform at 3 p.m. on Saturday and this is one show you don’t want to miss. The group is renowned throughout Japan thanks to their regular appearance on TV show “Boom” every Saturday. The group is an alumnus of the “Okinawa Actors’ School” in a long line of talent the school has provided over the years. The group will present precision and dance routines like no one else.

Break out your summer beach wear and amble down to Torii Station for one of the finest weekends you’ve ever had. The gates will be open to all and a special invitation is extended to those of you that have never enjoyed the hospitality of the Army’s finest soldiers and civilians.
