Date Posted: 2001-05-10

The Japanese Mint Bureau has created a package of coins in the memory of the designation of the Ryukyu castles as world heritage sites last December. The package consists of six coins minted this year in a post card-size case with 29 color pictures of the castles.

A spokesman of the Mint Bureau said they made the set to help everybody understand the significance of the world heritage sites. The package costs 2,000, and the Mint has prepared a total of 200,000 sets for sale. Orders are accepted from the 15th of this month. 200 sets will be on sale at Shurijo Park starting from the middle of this month.
