Local Police Want US Military Cooperation

Date Posted: 2000-10-27

Ishikawa City Police have proposed to the U.S. Military authorities setting up a network to support crime victims. This would be the first time the Japanese Police have requested such cooperation with U.S. Military law enforcement. The proposal is a part of the prefecture-wide police effort to aid and support victims of crime.

The Japanese Police would also like to widen cooperation in actual criminal investigations involving Americans. The U.S. side is reportedly considering the best response to the request. Ishikawa Police officials say that such cooperation would be of great benefit, allowing them an excellent opportunity to learn and widen their perspective.
