Onna Village Museum opens

The opening ceremony of the Onna Village Museum took place Wednesday afternoon with 100 guests attending.

The museum exhibits some 3,000 items, mainly related to traditional daily life in Onna Village. The exhibit includes a large number drawings and pictures. The theme of the permanent exhibition is ‘Life and road in Onna.” Items include old fishing tools and also a map and pictures of the road that Commodore Matthew Perry of U.S. followed 150 years ago when he visited Okinawa.

The museum officially opens to public from May 1.
