Sunshine and Sports on “Happy Monday”

Great weather favored the national Sports Day, this year held the first time on Monday instead of October 10, giving the people a three-day weekend and thus popularly dubbed a “Happy Monday.”

Some 2,000 people took part in calisthenics at Onoyama Park in Naha City while 740 showed up at Ginowan Seaside Park. Another popular event was the athletic games for the handicapped held in Ginoza Village, where 750 athletes took part in events ranging from ping-pong to a wheel chair marathon.
