Teacher Smells Smoke, Beats Up 16 Boys

A teacher at a high school in central Okinawa became enraged when he entered a classroom and smelled cigarette smoke. When no one confessed, he lined up 16 male students and beat them up one by one.

Some of the students told their parents about the incident who then complained to the principal. The teacher later apologized to the school, the students and the board of education. He said that he should not have lost his temper. None of the students required medical treatment.
