Naha Ready For World’s Biggest Tug-of-War

Preparations are well under way for the Naha Giant Tug-of-war scheduled for October 8. The rope was finished and ready for the contest Monday. Its length is 86 meters and it weighs is 40.1 tons. Its diameter is 1.56 meters or a little over five feet. It took 45 days for a group of 20 people to make it at Naha Military Port. The straw for the rope was imported from Taiwan. Naha’s Giant Tug-of-War is recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as being the largest tug-of-war event in the world.
