Internet Banking To Be Offered Locally

Date Posted: 2000-09-29

Officials at Okinawa Kaiho Bank, the third largest of local banks, announced that they will open an internet-based banking service, starting November. The new internet bank would allow a range of transactions from cellular phones and personal computers. The move will make Kaiho Bank the second bank in the Kyushu-Okinawa area to offer such service after Fukuoka City Bank.

The new venture will be named Kaigin-net. The service will be based on technologies created by NTT. The services will be available from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekdays and weekends and national holidays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Users of the new service will save on transaction fees that are set at roughly half of what they are in conventional banking.
