Camp Kinser, Urasoe Agree on Thoroughfare

Date Posted: 2001-04-20

Urasoe City and U.S. Marine Corps signed Tuesday on an agreement that allows Japanese emergency vehicles to pass through Camp Kinser. The agreement is valid for a year from the day of the signing and will be renewed depending on negotiations. This is the first agreement of its kind between a local government and a U.S. base.

According to this agreement, emergency vehicles that have special passes issued beforehand can pass through the base led by MPs. The agreement is expected to save considerable time for emergency vehicles to get to their destination, especially during daily rush hours.
