Island Has Japanís Least Parking Space

Okinawan cities have the least parking per resident in Japan, according to statistics published by the Ministry of Construction. Okinawan cities have only 7.1 square meters of park per resident. The national average is 7.9 square meters. Compared to the rest of the world, the space is small. The average in Europe and America is 20 square meters for each city resident officials at the Construction Ministry say that they have set a target to increase the space to 9.5 square meters by 2002. How exactly they plan to reach the increase in just two years is not clear.
