Cloud and Rain Don’t Deter Moon Viewers

Okinawa Prefecture held its annual Moon Viewing Party at Shuri Castle last week despite completely cloudy skies and occasional rain showers.

According ancient beliefs, the 15th of August of the lunar calendar has the most perfect full moon of the year and is the traditional day for organizing moon-viewing parties. And that’s what crowd of tourists from mainland Japan thought too. “This is fun. The rainy weather doesn’t not bother us at all,” a couple from Tokyo attending the party said. The moon viewing party continues today and tomorrow evenings.
