Big Losses Made By Local Hospitals

Prefecture owned hospitals accumulated a deficit of 1.94 billion last fiscal year, according to the Okinawa Prefecture Accounting Office. The deficit shrank a little over 300 million from a year ago. The main reason for the savings is reduced labor costs. The accounting office is now asking the individual hospitals to submit their own analysis of the reasons for the red ink. They are also asking hospital administrators to submit ideas to reduce the deficits.
