Okinawan land prices continue fall

Land prices in the prefecture followed the national trend last year, continuing to drop further. In Naha City the price of commercial land dropped almost 10 percent from one year ago. In housing areas, the land prices sank 5.7 percent. The average land price in Okinawa now stands at 70,200 per square meter.

The largest drop was for commercial land in Matsuo 2-Chome in the heart of Naha City, where the land value decreased as much as 17 percent. The annual nationwide survey land prices were published Tuesday and reflect the situation on July 1. The Ministry of Land and Construction conducts the survey together with local prefecture agencies.
