Ryubo is venue for cultural events

Date Posted: 2002-02-21

Palette Kumoji, also known as Ryubo, in Naha City is a venue for many great cultural demonstrations and events throughout the year. The sixth floor of the large shopping complex is the events floor, called “saiji,” and the seventh floor hosts Ryubo Hall, which boasts a theater and art gallery. On these two floors you can often see art shows, exhibitions and theatrical demonstrations.

from Wednesday, Feb. 22, to Monday, Feb. 25, a Korean exhibition will be held on Ryubo’s sixth floor, featuring Korean furniture, arts and crafts, jewelry and gemstones, and food and ingredients. Food vendors will be selling Korean bibimba and other delicacies. Also, a Chinese style of readings known as feng shui in which a house or room is judged as lucky or unlucky based on its appearance and location will take place. After your house or room is looked at, the readers will give advice on how you can turn any unlucky rooms into lucky rooms. If you’d like to do this, be sure to bring pictures of your house or rooms as well as a translator since all readings are done in Japanese. Korean fortune-tellers will also be present.

Ryubo is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information on Ryubo’s many cultural demonstrations and exhibits, stay up to date with our events pages.
