Police Trace Fleeing Car to Camp Hansen

Date Posted: 2000-09-08

A car hit and broke a valve of an irrigation water pipe yesterday in Kin Town. The car then fled the scene of the accident. According to Kin Police, eyewitnesses say that the car had “Y-plates” indicating that it belonged to a SOFA status person. The police later traced the owner of a car to a 28-year old service member stationed at Camp Hansen. He has admitted hitting the valve when returning from a near-by beach late in the night. Because of the broken valve, an irrigation system affecting some 18,000 square meters is out of order.
