Bill Gates Urges High-speed Connection to Help IT

Date Posted: 2001-04-06

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates talked with Okinawan children and the governor through a network made for Okinawa information technology symposium that was held at Harbor View Hotel in Naha City last Friday.

The real-time network connected Makuhari Messe exhibition hall in Chiba prefecture and the hotel using a Giga-byte optical fiber line.

At first, Gates gave a lecture on IT in the 21st century, and how important it is to educate people. Responding to Governor Inamine's question about how to make the best use of IT, Gates also said that the key is to build a high-speed net connection that is available to the people at low price.
