Popular G-8 Summit News and Music Station Closes

Date Posted: 2000-09-01

After being in operation for 79 days, FM Nago radio station went off air for good Sunday evening. The station went on-air June 18 and was scheduled to operate for two and half months because of the G-8 Summit. During its time on-air the station was popular among the local residents. The station’s entire staff of 20 people were volunteers from Meio University and Nago Chamber of Commerce Youth Division. The station concentrated on music and local news.

Some members of the Nago City Chamber of Commerce have expressed interest in finding ways to continue the station. “This is a very good community service and would help to invigorate our town,” a spokesman for the Chamber said over a telephone.
