All Okinawa Eisa Festival Biggest of 2000

According to organizers, the All Okinawa Eisa Festival at Koza Athletic Park attracted 240,000 spectators, Sunday. This makes it the biggest festival of the year in Okinawa. Many of this year’s festivals were cancelled or postponed in order to accommodate the G-8 Summit. This year’s evert was also the most international ever. Dancers from the U.S., Saipan, Agentine, Brazil, Argentine, China and other nations took part in the festival along local participating groups. In Naha, also Sunday, an estimated crowd of 20,000 people gathered at Kokusai Street for the 10,000 Dancer Eisa. The 10,000 Dancer Eisa had been postponed twice due to increment weather. During the parade, tourists lining the street eagerly joined the dancers in often improvised performances as the groups proceeded one after theb other.
