Man Loses Finger After Dog AttackDate Posted: 2001-03-23 The dog which attacked the man was a three year old Shiba mix male which had been tied up at a farm. However the dog bit through its leash and was walking in the park by itself. The South Okinawa Health Center, which treated the victim the following Tuesday, told the dog owner to muzzle it when he takes it for a walk and use a stronger chain to tie the dog up from now on. There were 141 dog biting incidents in Okinawa last year, 2.2 times higher than that of mainland Japan. The main reason is that many Okinawans do not keep their dogs on leashes, although this is illegal. |
