Officials at the Okinawa Visitors’ and Convention Bureau are optimistic about proving that Okinawa can successfully organize a major international conference will attract future conventions to the Island. They also rejoice in the fact that after the Summit the prefecture’s hotels and resorts are fully booked through September.

Officials say that Okinawa has hosted a total of 97 major conferences since 1997, but only 20 have had participants from overseas. “We would like to make a major effort to increase the number of international visitors to the Prefecture and put us on the map as one of the Premier locations for international conferences,” a bureau spokesman said.
