11 Gangsters Held for Extortion, Trespass

Date Posted: 2001-03-02

Eleven gangsters were arrested by the Okinawa Prefecture Gang Prevention Task Force last Thursday. Three members of the Asahiryu gang were picked up on extortion charges, while eight other gangsters were held for a variety of offenses, including trespassing.

The gangsters accused of extortion had issued threats in the mistaken notion that someone had tried to prevent them from calling in a debt. The man who had been menaced then went to see the leader of another gang to get some advice about avoiding the danger he was in.

In March 1999, when the Asahiryu gangsters found out he had met the rival gang leader, they brought the victim to their Naha City office and forced him to pay them ・30 million.
