Are you still looking for that perfect place to bring your lover on Valentine’s Day? Look no further! The Fishermen’s Wharf, located in Yomitan just past Torii Station’s main gate, is an ideal spot for sharing an intimate dinner. The restaurant sits right next to the ocean and has a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and sea. During the summer months you can watch a beautiful sunset while eating a delicious meal. During the cloudy winter months, the view is not as spectacular, but the ocean is soothing, nonetheless. So stop looking for that perfect spot to bring your girl or guy and hurry up with the reservations. At The Fishermen’s Wharf, your satisfaction is their primary concern.

The restaurant is offering a special Valentine’s meal from Feb. 14 to the end of the month. The meal consists of chicken with a special ethnic tomato sauce, clam chowder, salad, bread or rice, and cake, all for ¥2,000. A wine special is also in place with bottles of Romeo & Juliet Rosso Veronese and Bianco Veronese listed for ¥2,600. Imagine, a candlelit dinner with your lover over an excellent red or white wine. You’ll surely have a memorable Valentine’s dinner at The Fishermen’s Wharf.

The restaurant also has a regular bilingual menu with a variety of meals to choose from. Prices range from ¥600 to ¥1,500 for appetizers; salads range from ¥500 (garden) to ¥1500 (fresh lobster salad); seafood plates go for ¥1,200 (white fish with ethnic sauce) to ¥3,500 (whole baked lobster with lemon butter sauce); and steaks are available for ¥1,400 (hamburger steak) to ¥2,500 (230-gram filet mignon). The restaurant also has a variety of pizzas, pastas, chicken and rice meals to choose from.

The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to midnight, and the last order is at 11:30. In addition to having a bilingual menu, the staff speaks English, so you should have no trouble getting exactly what you want. The Fishermen’s Wharf has a pleasant atmosphere and a warm ambiance. With mellow jazz music being played in the background, delicious food served on your plate, a scenic view and affordable prices for all budgets, it doesn’t get much better than this!

The Fishermen’s Wharf also has a billiards bar that will be opening in March. This is a great place to have a drink after dinner while shooting pool or singing karaoke. You can also rent this room out for special parties.

Also, the Marimar Condominium, a new hotel right up the hill from the restaurant, is The Fishermen’s Wharf’s latest addition. This brand-new full-scale condominium has many rooms with a complete kitchen setup, so you can bring your own food to cook a special meal for your lover while taking advantage of the hotel’s Valentine’s specials. During the month of February, couples can get a room for a night for ¥6,000 per person. This special also includes a complimentary breakfast. The hotel has a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding area and is very easy to find. It is right off the beach, a definite plus during the upcoming summer months.

All in all, I was pleased with The Fishermen’s Wharf; my meal was filling, the view was nice, the atmosphere was relaxing and the hosts were friendly. It is an ideal spot for enjoying a Valentine’s Day dinner with your sweetheart, but it will work for wedding receptions, special celebrations or just for a drink while passing through Yomitan.

Driving to The Fishermen’s Wharf and the Marimar Condominium is very easy. From Kadena Air Base, take Route 58 north, past Kadena Circle, and turn left onto Route 6. Take this road straight for a few kilometers until you pass Torii Station’s main gate. Soon after, you will see a Family Mart on your left. Turn onto the road just before this store. Go straight a little ways, and you will see the Marimar Condominium on your left. Turn left right after the hotel, and The Fishermen’s Wharf will be directly in front of you.
