Date Posted: 2000-07-14

On Okaha reef near Yone in Tomigusuku Village hundreds of World War 11 shells lie offshore. Locals who use the area for fishing say they are not dangerous and that they were disarmed sometime in the past.

The shells are on the southeastern side of the reef and are underwater during high tide. They vary in size from 40 cm to 90cm in length. Police and Self-Defense Force are investigating the area.
