G8 Good For Food And Drink Business

Date Posted: 2000-07-07

Business is booming for the 230 bars, snacks and restaurants in Nago City that have seen a steady increase in their business as the G-8 Summit draws near. According to the Nago Bar Owners Asociation, many of the customers are foreigners, and bar and restaurant owners say that they are prepared.

Almost all of them have bi-lingual staff members to serve the foreign customers. Another new feature is that most of them now accept payments by credit cards instead of strictly cash only, as was the case before. The bar and restaurant owners expect the good times to continue as they believe that many tourists will come to the town after the summit out of curiosity.

The only black point in the city’s business circles is the still high number of shuttered up shops along the main street. Nago City Chamber of Commerce has urged the remaining merchants to keep their stores open as much and late as possible.
