Date Posted: 2001-02-23

The collecting of remains from Naha City’s Makabi shelter, used during the battle of Okinawa, came to an end on Monday. Many bones and belongings were found during the two week search, some of which will be taken for DNA testing.

A memorial service for the dead was held on Wednesday at the National Cemetery for the Battle of Okinawa War Dead in Itoman city.
